Cotton is the main fabric used in shirt making. Over 90 percent of the world’s shirt production utilizes various qualities of cotton. Soft and breathable, cotton is suitable for clothes which come into direct contact with the skin. Depending on how the cotton threads are interwoven (workmanship known as weave) different fabric qualities and types are obtained.
Among the most important and popular types of weave are Fil-à-fil, light and versatile, English Round, very breathable, suitable for summer shirts, Oxford, with its characteristic woven effect, Poplin, compact and durable, Herringbone, with its typical herringbone effect, Twill, with interesting reflections, and the light and fresh Zephir. Voile, almost transparent, suitable for summer shirts and Flannel which is warm and soft to the touch.
Neronote realises shirts which can be produced with other blended yarns or fabrics, such as silk or linen.
